Hey there peoples,
I will have to apologize for the lack of recent postings. As it turns out the computer decided to punish us for being in the greek islands and having a good time and as a result would not let us post to you, our wonderful readers, until now. The last week has consisted of a smorgasborg of activities, delicious in their nature and all to easy to consume in mass quantities. We've been hanging out in Ios, which is one of the greek islands dedicated to youths who do not bother themselves with petty concerns such as alcohol poisoning or STDs. We stayed at this place called Far Out Camping where it costs about one third of the price we're used to and the life, as they say, is good. The main hang out area consists of two swimming pools, some water slides, pool tables, foosball tables, a bar, a small restaurant, a mini mart, volleyball courts, tennis courts and much more. Not 50 feet away stretches out a beautiful beach complete with more volleyball courts, some umbrellas and sunbathing chairs which are often times occupied by some beautiful and very "liberal" customers.
As you can imagine, we were content to spend many a day lounging about, trying desperately to avert our eyes at key times so as not to appear rude, and trying to partake in the volleyball action whenever possible. The evenings brought with them the presentation of a pirated movie, some dinner and then afterwards the trek into town fuelled by the need for booze and dancing. Now, all this was well and good, but my personal favourite activity on Ios, believe it or not, was climbing one of the scenic mountains which surrounded our beach. I simply woke up one morning and decided to do it, and so with little more than the camera and a big bottle of water, I set out with the quest to be on top of this thing in short order. I didn't know that climbing a big mound of rocks could be so much fun, but I loved every second of it. It was a challenging climb, but after two and a half hours I found myself on the top of Ios, it's splendors laid out for only me to see. The view was breathtaking and the feeling exhilarating and I only wish to do more of it in the future. I've got a couple of pictures for you here, one half way up and the other of me greeting the world with outstretched arms.
Anyways, after Ios we decided to travel for three days straight so that we could get to Rome and enjoy what it has to offer. We're a little tired from missing all that sleep, but soon we'll reward you with a slew of new pictures and stories galore about the glory of Rome.
Take it easy,
Markus

I'm sure you'll all been waiting with held breath for this. Cause really, Markus and Brian in Europe .... bo-ring!! My visit to Dryden however, that's exciting stuff. So ya, Daniel and I are officially "going out" now.
So ya, I was in Dryden June 24 - July 7. Daniel was in Kingston July 7 - July 16. My time in Dryden was very enjoyable. I got to witness my own little bit of that famous German hospitality. I was supplied with cupcakes and rubarb strawberry crisp galore. I learned the valuable lesson, "If you want treats, check the oven." The whole family was great, and I want to go back already.
Daniel and I went camping at Blue Lake. It was very blue. I like blue. Daniel tried to make pancakes on a bbq. Needless to say, it didn't work, and I was right.
I also saw the rest of the Drydenites, Denise and Jill in particular. We all got together for a very tasty bbq. The company and the food were great, but my absolute favorite part was watching Cory eat the strawberry off of Christina's cupcake. She was none too pleased, which just made it funnier.
We did a bunch of cool stuff here in Kingston too. Most importantly, Heather and Catherine and family were here for the weekend. That's right Brian, I had a Heather and you didn't! So there! We went sailing. It was great. The boat was leaking, so we had to head back early, but even Heather enjoyed it, so that has to be good.
There's tons more, but I'm sure you guys know it isn't possible to write down everything. I have pictures, but can't very well put them in my comment, so you'll all have to wait to see them.
Once again, a great big thanks to Daniel's entire family, including Daniel, I suppose, for making my visit up there so so enjoyable. I miss you all.
For anyone who feels that they need some ammo to use to make fun of Daniel, his favorite colour is pink. Heather and I are planning to run a little competition to see who's SO is more gay, and Daniel definitely got a point for that. I think Brian is still miles ahead though.
On a sad note, we now both have puppies recently admitted to doggie heaven. Merlin (Wolski's) had to be put down so he doesn't bite any foster kids, and Daisy (mine) was just getting too old to walk. Hopefully the two of them will meet and play together.
Posted by: Shannon at July 17, 2003 08:54 PMYa, that's right! My comment is long, and I am proud!
Posted by: Shannon at July 17, 2003 08:56 PMWoo! It's awesome reading the latest installment of the Daniel report on our website. It's like having a Starbucks with its own little mini-Starbucks inside! Glad to hear you had such a great time (German hospitality does rock!), and you're quite right -- there's so much to say that it can't all be written down. I can't wait to swap stories once we all get back together.
Also, sorry to hear about Daisy...those two dogs will definitely be playing around the great big fire hydrant in the sky.
And Markus used the self-timer for those two awesome shots. Very safe, too; he only had 15 seconds to dash back over massive rocks on steep cliff ledges to pose! What you can't see in the pictures is the giant break in his right arm (cleverly bent in the first picture)...
Later,
Posted by: Brian at July 17, 2003 10:51 PMPink!?! I didn't know this, but you know this. I'm his brother. I've known him his whole freakin' life. How you got him to admit such information, I can't begin to imagine, but what I do know is that you're good. Very good...
(By the way, Daniel, you have never shown me a pink Porsche, BMW, Ferrari, Audi, Mercedes, Volkswagon etc. so what gives? The only pink on a car I've ever seen is on convertibles in the movies, you know, the ones that pimps drive. That being said, why would your favourite colour be... Aaahhhh. Pink. Yeah, yeah ;-)
Posted by: Markus at July 18, 2003 10:49 PMHalt. Wait. Stop. Time-out. Ok What I said was something to the effect of " when I was a small, 4 your old child I had a slight obsesion with the colour pink". I'm sure there were many other people at that age that had no real concept of good and evil, when applied to colour schemes. So anyway this has been completely blown out of all proportion and I think I deserve an appology or a swift kick in the ass. Im fairly sure I know which one Im going to get. Thank you for your time. Daniel.
Ps Happy tree friends is double plus good.
Posted by: Daniel at July 20, 2003 01:57 AMOk, I used to like pink, too! There's nothing wrong with that colour! BUT! BLUE is MUCH better!!! :D (So is purple...and green for people like me...sigh...yes, I should be wearing more green...)
Anyways, I sympathize with Daniel, but since I have nothing to apologize for: Kick in the buttocks is what ye shall get!
